When a school aspires actively to facilitate that each of
the students entrusted to its care grows up – through the meticulously
envisioned systemic process of the institution’s unique program of education –
to be a creative, competent, caring, credible and committed individual who is
empowered personally to lead a life of spiritual, intellectual, emotional,
aesthetic, cultural, social, physical and professional fullness and integrity
and, at the collective level, to coalesce well enough to contribute
meaningfully towards constituting an outstanding, responsible, resourceful,
compassionate and disciplined citizenry committed to change and progress vis-à-vis
life in India in particular and the world in general and achieves such a goal
consistently, it transforms itself into a center of educational excellence. ‘It’s
relatively easier to arrive at such an academically loaded- and perhaps even
bombastic- definition of what a so called center of educational excellence
should be than to come up with a lucid practical understanding of what is
needed as well as the pertinent road map to take an institution in the right
direction.
However difficult the task may appear, it is obviously not
impossible though it would surely involve herculean efforts in all areas of
activity undertaken at the school level. Broadly, the first step for bridging
the multiple gaps between and within the ‘academic’ the ‘practical’ with regard
to establishing a center of educational excellence would be to design and
execute an exceptional and progressive program of education personalities
